Is it possible to be pregnant with twins and not know?

I'm now 31 almost 32 weeks pregnant... I have not had an ultrasound done since 17 weeks, and at that appointment I was told that the baby was a boy.

I'm a high risk pregnancy and have been in and out of the hospital left and right, and was seeing an army doctor and was just transferred off post.

I'm measuring way bigger than the gestational age, FTP was really high pos. We also found out I was pregnant when I was literally only like 2 weeks pregnant because my hormones went up quick...
I'm literally huge, and all belly... And as I said, haven't had an ultrasound since 17 weeks... I have a weird feeling it just might be twins.. And I have also recently found out after being hospitalized in an ICU for heart related issues--that I'm extremely malnourished, I've been put on a tonnnn of vitamin supplements--but still haven't had an ultrasound to date... I'm getting a growth ultrasound done on thursday, but all in all my calcium is low, magnesium is superrrrrrrr low, iron is superrrrrr low (I'm anemic) and there was like a few others...
I've been having svt heart rhythms due to my extremely low lipids/vitamins...
And as I said, have been told that I'm measuring way bigger than I should be...

Is it possible that it's twins and the doctor missed this?

--not to be annoying or anything, but I don't have much faith in the military healthcare... And thus far theyve done a really bad job of monitoring my pregnancy---I'm just now being approved to see an off post doctor and the doctor I'm seeing suggested we double check :-/

I'm not sure whether twins could be missed at a 17 week ultrasound but interested to hear once you've had a second opinion/ further scan.

I'll let you know as soon as I know anything, I was kinda shocked that they told me that it's possible.
Though, army doctors are epic for screw ups..

I found out I was expecting twins at 30 weeks, delivered at 31 weeks. I had no US thought. I doubt at 17 weeks that is something that could be missed, especially being high risk because they monitor you so closely. Good luck to you!

Well, at exactly 32 weeks now.. I started having contractions last night, and my appointment is today, called the hospital and was told to come in, and they stopped the contractions, but I'm now 1.5 cm dilated.

Still no ultrasound, I have to go back into the hospital today to see my new PCM and make sure I'm not dilating anymore and hopefully theyll check everything then :-/

Nope not me ^^^^

And um anyways.
I would have responded sooner, but I have actually been in the hospital 8 times since this post. It's pretty insane. However, I do have an answer--only one baby, but baby is measuring like 4 weeks ahead, oddly enough, I'm also really malnourished? I've had to start taking a ton of supplements in the past few weeks and were kinda waiting to see where this goes for now ig. I've gone into labor twice and had contractions on and off but I can't take much of anything because I have a heart condition. I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss the possibility of an emergency c - section... Cuz now my Bp is acting up, surprisingly no gestational diabetes (kinda my thought since the baby is HUGE). So I'm pretty much stumped.

I have a friend who miscarried a twin, she said they didn't even know she was having twins Til she lost her. She was several months along.
