Heck NO! Those are great odds & the risk of miscarriage due to the Amnio is greater. Plus at some point they can measure the baby's neck. That is a much safer way to tell if the child has downs, but I think your odds of having a perfectly healthy baby are excellent!
But, on a side note, some of the sweetest, kindest, & happiest people I have ever met had Downs Syndrome.

My score was 1:9 for both twins and my amnio came out normal. If I got your score I wouldn't have had an amnio xxx

I would not do the amnio if I were you. My results were 1/3800 for downs 1/7200 for the other aneuploidies. I will not be doing any invasive testing.

Mines was like 1:300 and we didnt do it with this baby however not knowing much before we did the amnio with the child before it and I was only 30 at the time I think sometimes its like a scary situation but like my husband said we was going to keep the baby no matter what the health risk was...

Great odds!! But I'm not sure as you need to do what's right in your heart! I'm in the sane position! I've just had nt scan on Friday 30th and waiting on results, my nt was 1.7 and nasal bone present! What was your score? My last pregnancy I had amnio as baby was 1:65!! But was ok! X

We had great odds on the testing but still went ahead with the amnio. We wanted all the knowledge we could have. Mc risks with amnio are very low and if you go to a center where thy do it all the time almost nonexistent. The neonatologist who did mine has never in 25 years had a mc as a result of her amnio procedure. The amnio itself was remarkably painless and easy. Just want to reassure those of you who choose to go through with it ..... Either way wish you gl!!

You have great results but everything depends on what should be your next decision. If the amnio tell you that the baby have any problem, what are you going to do... I want an amnio because my little sister died because she had n connection between brain and column... God help us but was so difficult for my mom... I want to be capable to take the decision in early stage of my pregnancy

I personally would not. my odds were 1:240 and everything was fine...there is always that chance but I would never change my mind!

I personally did a CVS and would still do an amnio in your position, but that's because I wanted to know, if there was any problem, so I can get the best care possible for LO right from birth.

I had great NT scan results and opted for the amnio. It depends on the person, of course, but I wanted a more accurate answer. Also, the amnio tests for issues that the NT scan doesn't.

There is a new blood test called MaternaT21. They just started offering it a few months ago. Supposed to be very accurate. I plan on doing it. http://www.sequenomcmm.com/home/health-care-professionals/trisomy-21/
