Hydrocodone? I was given percocet for my migraines. Dr says they're fine if you take them as prescribed.

You can take them try 1 every 4-6 hours. If that doesn't work try taking 1 with a extra strength Tylenol every 4-6 hrs and If that doesn't work try 2 every 6 hrs. That should do the trick. But only take them as needed. :) I'm also a RN in OB and L&D and that's usually what we tell our patients ;)

@mom to be,

Well I know there is already acetaminophen in hydro and perc's but if you take 1 5/325 +1 500 mg Tylenol that's only 825mg at a time which they say no more than 1000mg at a time and no more than 4000mg within a 24 hour period. The Dr.s tell them to take the extra strength Tylenol with the hydro or perc's so they can get longer relief without taking 2 hydros or percs.

My sister is a pharmacist and she said that's totally ok as long as you don't exceed 4000mg of acetaminophen a day which is the same advice I give my patients (I'm a RN and physician assistant student) and also the same advice the obgyn's Drs in L&D give and the same thing I learned in nursing school... So it's not too much unless your are exceeding the 1000mg every 4-6 hours. ;)

I would never tell someone to do something that could potentially hurt them or their pregnancy. I'm in the business of helping not hurting. I would never give advice I couldn't back up Or that I wasn't 100% sure about ;).

Maybe you should look it up for yourself and tell me why you come up with because 850 mg every 4-6 hours isn't too much.

Btw I've been doing this for almost 7yrs and my sister has been a pharmacist for 12 years. ;) I'm going to go out on a limb and say she knows what she's talking about

im goen to agree with sheda(sp?)... i take percs 4 times a day for piriformis syndrome(my piriformis muscle is wrapped around my sciatic) and i talked to my dr the other day and they said its ok to take them. also she is completely right.. u r not suppose to exceed 4000mg in a 24 hr period. i am also a nurse(not an rn but pretty damn close to one. im an lpn but im working on getting my rn).. if the dr says its safe to take during pregnancy then ur ok! also the information she has given is dead on to what a dr or whoever u see will tell you. if you google it its goen to tell u the same thing. vics r usually 5/500mg which means it has 500 mg of tylenol in it.. regular strength tylenol is 325mg and ex stregnth tylenol is 500 mg.. its perfectly safe to take tylenol during pregnancy jus dont exceed the 4000mg/day as it can do significant damages to ur liver.
